Mosaic Area Network
Ann became a La Leche League (LLL) Leader in 1994, and lives in the Dayton, Ohio area, where she and her husband raised four children. After completing her BA at the University of Dayton, Ann became a stay-at-home parent for whom volunteering was a career path. She has volunteered for LLL, schools, and museums during the past 40 years. Currently, Ann is volunteering for LLL and is serving on the board for the Ohio Breastfeeding Alliance, the USBC-connected state breastfeeding coalition. She also fosters dogs for a collie rescue. Her four grandchildren, two dogs, and husband also demand their fair share of attention. When not engaged with any of the above pursuits, Ann can be found with her nose in a book or newspaper, ignoring the world for a while. Within LLL, Ann has served in several administrative roles, including conference programming, LAD work, and Leader administrative support. She still finds the greatest reward in directly helping families to discover what breastfeeding/body feeding can mean to them.

Jen started the La Leche League (LLL) Leader accreditation process after the birth of her first daughter in 2012, while living in Vancouver BC. She then led her very first meeting in Sydney, Australia, where she raised her two children while continuing her education and training as an IBCLC. Jen completed the Lactation Consultant program through the University of California San Diego with honours, having had her clinical practice in delivery and labour wards, NICUs, Midwifery clinics and in Child health offices working in an integrated healthcare team. Currently, she runs The Hamilton Breastfeeding Clinic in Hamilton, Ontario and volunteers on the LLL USA Council, sharing her passion for infant feeding and the WHO International Code. On Jen’s days off she is working towards her master’s degree in counseling at McMaster University, creating new recipes as a trained vegan chef, and can be found mountain biking through the trails of Central Ontario.

Sandy became a Leader with La Leche League (LLL) of Marlton, NJ in 2000 and currently serves as a member of the Research Review Team for LLL USA and Professional Liaison Department head for the Garden State Area Network (GSAN). She has been an IBCLC since 2011 with experience in public health and private settings and became an RN in 2023 to allow more flexibility in her second career moving forward. Initially trained as an engineer at Rutgers, Sandy worked in environmental compliance. Personal experience has made her educated and passionate about lactation, elder care, invisible disabilities, and food allergies, inspiring some topics for state conference presentations for parents and Leaders. Sandy and her husband raised two amazing young adults who have taught them so much along the way. They look forward to more adventures ahead, even the plot twists. Sandy loves exploring nature and history with her family, especially in her local Pine Barrens. She is a fan of youth robotics teams, remaining a spectator while her family volunteers because she’s got enough on her plate!

Misty (she/her) and her husband, Bill, live in Sacramento, CA. They have 6 adult children and 8 living granddaughters who fill their hearts with joy. Misty’s journey with La Leche League (LLL) began before her first child was born. She remembers that this meeting felt like the “home of her heart” and how she wanted to raise her own children. Misty has served many roles in her Area, LLL of Northern California, Hawaii, and Northern Nevada (NCA/HI/NNV), and is currently serving the Area as Communication Skills Coordinator. She serves on the Council for US West Area Network (USW), offering support to Area Coordinators of Leaders, Statisticians, and Communication Skills Instructors. Misty enjoys writing articles for the USW online publication, eConnect, and giving Communication Skills sessions for Leaders and Leader Applicants in person and online. She is co-creator of an online course, “Communication Skills for Lactation Professionals” (all income goes to USW). For fun, Misty enjoys reading, being with family, traveling, taking walks, and learning about communication skills and inclusion.

Becca (she/her) lives in central Illinois and became a La Leche League (LLL) Leader 37 years ago. She has been a Leader in several Areas throughout the U.S. due to frequent relocations with her husband’s career and has served in the Leader Department, Professional Liaison Department, and Finance Department. Becca is a retired IBCLC and was the Editor of Breastfeeding Abstracts for LLL International (LLLI) and a procurer of studies for the Center for Breastfeeding Information, an old LLLI program/research library. She served on the LLLI Board of Directors from 2011-2014 and while on the Board, served as the LLLI Treasurer. She is currently serving on LLL US West Council as a member of the Finance Team and Editor of the US West newsletter, eConnect. Together, she and her husband raised three smart, assertive, and talented daughters, each blazing their own path in the world. In addition to three wonderful sons-in-law, they have six grandchildren ranging from 8 years old to away at college. They also have a 5 lb. dog at home to liven up the place. In her imaginary spare time, Becca likes to swim, quilt, make handbags/backpacks, knit, paint, crochet work on genealogy, and swim some more. They love having family come to visit and when not in the pool, the dining room table is the place to be; enjoying a variety of family board games, crafting with the grandchildren, homemade sticky sauce and lots of laughter.

Elena has been a La Leche League (LLL) Leader since 2011 and is current serving on the LLL Texas Area Network (TXAN) and LLL USA Councils. She works as a Hospital-based Lactation Consultant now, but she started as a Mama, blessed by LLL, finding footing trying to navigate the parenting journey after a long infertility ride. Having participated with several LLL groups, Elena (& family) settled-in to live near extended family, and she joined several others in pursuing LLL Leadership. She later certified as an IBCLC, became a Registered Nurse, and completed a Graduate Nurse Residency Program, with her project focused on improving provider-bias-awareness related to caring for patients/families of color. Thanks to the National Association of Hispanic Nurses, Elena obtained a BSN during 2020, via the University of Alabama, and proudly works at the local hospital that deliver babies. She serves as co-Chair of her local Nursing Excellence (Magnet) Council and has served as Chair or Co-Chair of one hospital system’s Lactation Council for the last 4 years. She thanks her co-Leaders for giving her the opportunity to support LLL in such a meaningful way.
