Out of the Mouths of Nurslings: Chips, Plushies, and Sweetness
New Beginnings has shared so many sweet editions of Out of the Mouths of Nurslings over the years. We’ve got a new collection of charming stories for you this week that will make you smile, laugh, and remember fondly the days of nursing your own little ones.
Stephanie H. sent in an adorable exchange she had with nursing her toddler. “One day, as I was considering weaning my toddler, she asked for milk. I asked her, ‘Would you like milk in a cup?’ ‘No,’ she replied, ‘I want milk from your heart.’ We continued breastfeeding until she was over four years old.”
Vanessa F. described the charming way her nursing relationship has impacted the way her daughter plays with her toys. “My two-year-old has started nursing her plush baby owl. She’ll make a sucking noise and say, ‘Want more milky?’; often followed by, ‘Switch boobies?’ Imaginative play at its best!”
Linda A. recalled her son’s urgent request for milk during an LLL Conference. “He had spent an unusual space of time with his dad all day while I attended sessions. In the Exhibit Hall, he spied me across the room and came running to me yelling, ‘Mama Moooo.’ Initially, I couldn’t figure out what he was talking about. That was the first time he had ever used that term for nursing!”
If you’d like to share your memorable Out of the Mouths of Nurslings moment with readers of the New Beginnings blog, send a brief blurb (and a picture, too, if you’d like!) to Kylie at [email protected]
