Out Of The Mouths Of Nurslings: Toddler Critiques And Raves

Mother nursing her toddlerIf there’s one thing we know about toddlers, it’s that they say exactly what’s on their mind!

Rachel recently shared her now adult son’s strong feelings about any milk other than hers when he was a nursling.

“I loved the story of the toddler who loved the scent of momma’s milk. (lllusa.org/out-of-the-mouths-of-nurslings-milk-memories/) It reminded me of my younger son, Ben. He nursed until he was three years old. During his second year he told me, ‘Cow’s milk is yucky, mommy’s milk is good.’ I treasure that ‘review’ from my now 25-year-old.”

Marguerite’s daughter also had glowing words of praise for the positive way nursing made her feel.

“When my daughter was three years old, she told me that she felt very, very wiggly, meaning she was very uncomfortable. Then she said, ‘and then we nurse, and everything’s okay!’ Thank you, La Leche League, for guiding me through the wonderful experience of mothering!”

Has your child ever said something so clever, endearing, hilarious, or simply surprising that you couldn’t help but share it with those around you? Out of the Mouths of Nurslings gives parents of nurslings a place to share those words with readers around the United States and even the world. Send your anecdotes to Amy at [email protected].
