Oh, the Places a Breastfeeding Family Goes! (Mini edition)
It’s been quite some time since we’ve shared your personal snapshots of nursing on the go (or sticking close to home, for that matter). In order to (hopefully) reboot our “Oh, the Places a Breastfeeding Family Goes!” feature, we’d like to share these lovely photos sent in by a proud grandmother.
Bonnie Cayo, a former La Leche League Leader and “newly minted grandmother” provides us with a peek into the life of her daughter, Holly, and newborn granddaughter, Lilliana Grace. These photos were taken by Bonnie’s son-in-law, Nick (Lilliana’s father), at the new baby’s home in Lincoln Park, Illinois.
Bonnie writes: “Holly said that Nick hardly slept all night before taking the picture of Holly and Lilly, curled up facing each other. He kept hearing Lilly make all the little baby noises that babies make so he continually checked on her, only to realize she was still asleep. Exhausted, he told Holly, ‘I finally realized these are the same sounds she makes all day long when she’s napping!’ Holly nursed Lilly and they all fell back to sleep.”
What adventures have you experienced lately? Did summer take you on a long road trip, or did you stick close to home and take in the local sights? We’d love to see what you’ve been up to lately. Please send your photos and a short description to Amy at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Editor’s Note: The early days and weeks with a newborn often see parent(s) and child staying close to home, learning about each other and breastfeeding. At the start, common questions often involve milk supply and proper positioning and latch. In addition to the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) section of the LLL USA website, there are also a number of printable information or “tear off” sheets available.
These include topics such as:
- Is Baby Getting Enough: www.lllusa.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/Is-Baby-Getting-Enough.pdf
- Well-Fed Baby Checklist: www.lllusa.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/Well-Fed-Baby-Checklist.pdf
