This song is meant to convey the tension of how quickly our babies change and grow up, while trying to soak in the moments that are happening now. It’s easy to look back on a few months ago and miss how little my daughter was, but a few months or years from now, I’ll be missing this too, right now. Every past moment was once a chance to live in it, to embrace it fully. I’m all too aware and reminded often by strangers that your children’s childhood goes by too quickly. When I want to distract myself or the baby to make time go by faster in challenging or monotonous situations, I try to remind myself of the things I’ll miss most when they’re on their own and appreciate them as much as I can right now. My presence is what my baby wants most, too!

Half a cup of coffee already gone cold
