Out of the Mouths of Nurslings
My three and one-half year old son, Micah, recently asked to nurse, so we were getting ready to do so. Then I was confused because he wasn’t really latching or starting. I asked, “Micah, don’t you want to nurse?” He responded, “Yes! I’m nursing in S-L-O-W M-O-T-I-O-N, Mama!” And you know what? He totally did! He tried to nurse in slow motion, opening his mouth, latching on, even trying to suckle, all in slow motion. It wasn’t particularly successful, of course, but then we got the giggles together and shared some big belly laughs.
