La Leche League International Conference: Comments from Attendees

Llli conference logoLactation advocates and La Leche League Leaders around the world joined the La Leche League International Online Conference in October to learn together. We’re looking forward to highlighting some of the sessions in the coming weeks. Today, we’ve collected quotes and comments from attendees describing which parts of the conference they felt were noteworthy or interesting. If you missed the conference, you can still register and attend the sessions until April 2025 at the link above.

Uyen T. shared, “I really, really loved the East Meets West and MILK documentaries that were shown during the conference. I went back and watched them several times! There is a link to rewatch within the conference platform.” Next week on the blog we will feature Uyen’s full review of the film East Meets West.

Kylie P. enjoyed the artwork and doodling sessions. “During the live session (but not during the repeated recordings, sorry!), there was a great doodling session which was a nice break in the day to get creative. Also, I loved the Bizarre Bra contest! The entries that were submitted were really creative.”

Adele M. explained, “I attended the whole conference, and I really liked the range of subjects and speakers. I also appreciate that La Leche League Leaders are often consulted as subject matter experts. The stuff we learn from parenting our children can sometimes be an obscure expertise, so it’s amazing that they were recognized.”

Adele went on to note that the translation features were helpful, as well. “I super appreciated the accessibility of the translations that were built right into the presentations.”

Along the same line, Véronique L. commented, “I was glad that LLLI took advantage of advances in technology and its translation teams to have speakers from all over the world presenting in their mother tongue. This allows the attendees to be aware of the universal concerns about lactation and support to families to reach their breastfeeding/chestfeeding goals. It also gives us a glimpse into how different cultures approach nursing their babies and small children.”

Editor’s note: La Leche League International’s core book, The Art of Breastfeeding (9th edition), formerly known as The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding, is available now. You can order your copy here.
