Out of the Mouths of Nurslings

Star’s sonStarr D. of Tompkins County, New York, recently shared a sweet conversation she and her son, Sincere, had after he observed a nursing infant.

“My four-year-old still does ‘milk milk’ as a comfort thing (morning and bedtime and occasionally during the day.) He just met a six-week-old baby girl, and he’s absolutely taken with her. He saw her do ‘milk milk’ with her mommy and turned to me and said, ‘Maybe she would like your milk milk better, Mommy, because yours is so good.’ I said, ‘I don’t think so, honey. Her mommy’s milk milk is made especially for her, and I think she likes it very much.’ He didn’t move from her side while they were visiting. Sincere is my sixth – and last (I’m 44!) – child. (I breastfed them all!) Unfortunately, he won’t get to be a big brother, but he’d be amazing if he were to have the chance!”
